About Melissa Ihrig

After working in a variety of settings with a variety of age groups, Melissa made the decision to pursue a private practice in which she could work with people across the age span, and share her clinical strengths with people across her community.  Roc Your Voice, Speech-language Services was started in 2013.

Melissa has a diverse background.  She has worked as a 1:1 behavioral assistant for children with autism, as a speech-language teacher in the schools, as an early intervention and preschool speech-language pathologist providing home based services, and as a clinic based speech-language pathologist servicing adults with developmental disabilities.  Along the way, Melissa worked with adults speaking English as a second language, as well as older children with articulation errors that did not qualify for school-based services.  She has also provided mentorship and supervision to student interns and clinical fellows.

Melissa holds a speech-language pathology license from the New York State Office of Professions, a teaching certification in speech-language disabilities from the New York State Department of Education, as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-language and Hearing Association (ASHA).  Melissa is a member of the ASHA special interest groups in AAC and Language learning and education. She has a B.S. and M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from SUNY Geneseo and Penn State University, respectively. Melissa has two beautiful children, and cherishes time spent with her family and good friends. (photo taken summer of 2020)
